Janet's bio

My passion is to take a story from history, and turn it into something fun for children. My storytelling business got its beginnings at Fultondale Elementary as a homeroom mother to Tiana, who was in the 3rd grade. My love for reading to children gave me the opportunity to create the story "The Patchwork Path", a book about the Underground Railroad. I took this story "on the road", telling it in schools during the month of February.

I got my big break when a friend of mine was getting out of the storytelling business, and offered me her gigs. I have since then told my stories at libraries across the county: Adamsville, Fairfield, Gardendale (where I am employed), Bessemer and Irondale. I have been in Warrior Elementary and Center Point Elementary.

All my stories are from books already written, I just add my own twist. Most of my storytelling times are spent doing finger play (i.e. "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on a bed"), telling stories, reading books, poetry and I end each session with dances from Greg and Steve. We have such fun!

I live in Fultondale with my husband, Daryl, and my 2 children, Tiana and Heidi. I integrate Godly characters in each of my stories, and love to tell the children of my love for Jesus.
